OUR FOSTERS

MOOSE

3 Years Old

Moose is around 3 years old and is a glorified, couch potato pitty. He makes the breed proud with his super affectionate nature, and it would make his whole life to have one special person he could call his own.

While Moose loves his cuddle time he’s also very enthusiastic about playing tug, but watch your fingers as he sometimes doesn’t know how big his mouth truly is. He’ll sometimes play fetch, but that can be too much running for this lazy guy.

Moose knows “sit”, “drop”, and “place” and prefers to have a soft, cozy spot to place since, in typical pitty fashion, he has little to no hair on his bum and it can be sensitive to hard surfaces. Diva, much? That being said, he does love to go ham on some stuffed bedding/toys and will shred them to bits. Flat blankets are Moose approved, though!

When walking on leash Moose tends to do better with a prong-collar as he is very excited to get to where he is going and likes to pull.

Moose has done great around children and will often cuddle up in the office chair with the owner of Top Dog’s daughter. He’s very soft and respectful around her and would adore having his own human child to love on. He’s also done well being with other dogs and particularly likes our foster named Sandy. They often play outside together, and Moose is great at politely correcting behaviors he is not comfortable with.

Over the past year and half he’s been staying at Top Dog, Moose has been kennelled. He doesn’t try to escape, chew at the kennel bars, or have accidents overnight, but he does like to throw tantrums and will cry if left alone. Moose would do well in a household that is home often and doesn’t leave the house for long periods of time, but if the occasion to leave for a bit does arise Top Dog would be happy to see him again!

One last thing about our dear boy Moose is he can get a little greedy about his food, so we recommend giving him lots of space to eat and not to interrupt him until he is finished. He takes treats nicely, albeit eagerly (remember to watch those fingers), but prefers to eat meals and high value treats in his own area.

SCOOBY

5 Years Old

Scooby is around 5 years old and is a mix of mostly Pitbull and German Shepherd with some Boxer in there too. It’s his Boxer genes that really shine through with his goofy antics, though! Scooby is very excitable and doesn’t fully grasp his size, so we try to keep the cuddles to a minimum until he’s formed a bond with you and will listen to your instructions lest he boxer chop you - hyah!

To displace his case of the jumping beans he loves to play fetch and tug. Having something in his mouth helps to redirect his attention away from your arms or hands as our Scooby is a little mouthy.

He’s the real life Scooby Doo; curious, a little cowardly, but loyal to the bone. And, of course, HUNGRY! Scoobs loves treats and is highly food motivated which makes him great at retaining training! Currently, he knows “sit”, “down”, “drop”, and “place”. Scooby walks great on leash, as well!

Scooby hasn’t shown any aggression towards adults or children, but he’s a big boy with a lot of love to throw around, so he would be best suited with an adult family or perhaps a family with teenagers; people with the ability to correct his jumping up. He’s also a bit confused on how to properly “dog” with other dogs. He’s either very shy and nervous around other pups or has no self-control and can be a little rude. Any dog introductions would need to be slow and thoughtful. Just like the animated Scoobs, he prefers solo time with his human!

Scooby is a smart cookie and can easily open his kennel door if it’s not clipped and he’s gotten out of flimsy crates before, so he’ll need to be in a durable, locked kennel or crate if left alone. He sleeps with a blanket nightly and enjoys both soft toys and chew bones. Because of his big brain, big personality, and big feelings Scooby would be best suited with a family able to provide him with a structured homelife and consistency.

SANDY

4 Years Old

Sandy is our spazzy, 4 year old pitbull terrier mix. She’s small, mighty, and has dreams of becoming an olympic runner.

Despite her tiny size Sandy has big energy! She loves to play fetch and tug-of-war, but her absolute favorite thing to do is run side-by-side while you bicycle! She’s fast but does well with a prong-collar during these excursions.

When she’s worn out she will settle down for cuddles and loves to have a cozy area to rest. She can be very affectionate once she has the proper outlet to release her inner wild-child. We recommend slow and gentle pets to not overstimulate her into go-mode again. Too much attention can spur her into nipping at your sleeves or humping your leg. It can be beneficial to simply sit with her and reward her for staying calm. She loves treats, so she makes rewarding her easy peasy!

Sandy has an excellent digestive system and burns through her calories quickly. Her hunger can sometimes know no bounds and she will nibble on the occasional pile of poop. She counteracts  this gross behavior by being the cutest sun bather you’ve ever seen. Laying in a warm sunspot is Sandy’s unofficial job and she takes it very seriously.

Sandy would be the perfect companion for an active person, especially someone with a yard or a place for her to get all of her zoomies out!
